How large is your operation: breeds, number of head, number of acres: The ranch markets approximately 20 yearling Angus bulls.

Operation history, local, and topography: Bar Nothing Ranch has been in operation raising Angus seedstock since 1982. Ranch headquarters are at 8000 Los Osos Valley Road in San Luis Obispo. Cattle run under commercial rangeland conditions in coastal hills.

Pedigrees: Bloodlines of foundation females and sires come from Rancho Casino (Medeiros), Tehama (Borror), and Vintage (Coleman) programs. A line-breeding program focusing on Emulous genetics was started. Prominent herd sires have included: TC Stockman 365, GDAR Traveler 71, N Bar Emulation EXT, RR Traveler 5204, GAR Sleep Easy, PS Sasquatch 904, JR Juice Z005, PS High Pockets, Traveler, Bando, Big-Sky, Bold-Ruler, and Power Play.

Operations accomplishments, management, and genetics: Bulls have captured Top Sire-Group award at Cal Poly (Angus) for 1993, 1996, and 1997 test years. In 1996 won the Champion Growth Angus award and in 1998 won the Calving Ease Angus award. Bar Nothing Ranch heifers have won the prestigious Mid-State Fair Replacement competition the last five consecutive years 1995-1999. Highly proven, top sires of the breed are incorporated through A.I. The resulting blend of performance, carcass, maternal, and "showring" genetics can benefit any herd.

Marketing outlets: Market outlets are chiefly the Cal Poly Bull Test and private treaty sales. The ranch also maintains a large commercial cow-calf operation. Steers have also been fed and carcass tested through the Cal Poly Steer Futurity since 1986.
